Wednesday Class
Wednesday's class really got me thinking about the responsibilities of freedom of speech. I didn't like the way one student (I'm not postitive her name) was attacking another student (Laura) over difference of opinion. In fact, I thought her remarks were rude and not appropriate in a class setting. She raised her voice and I felt that was completley out of line. On top of that the student was not even listening to what Laura said. Laura didn't say she thought there should be a draft, she simply asked the question, what is the military suppose to do if people no longer sign up for the military? Anyway, I am not trying to start anything, or offend anyone, this is just my opinion and I feel that especially in a class where we are learning about free speech, I think it is important that we all respect eachother and different view points and opinions.

Fair and balanced my butt!
I learn something new every time I go to this class (HCOM 310). Today we watched a video about fox news, and I knew that fox was really right winged, but I had no idea that they actually lie and manipulate the truth. I also never heard their slogan "fair and balanced." I mean, what a load of crap! They couldn't be more the opposite. They are so one sided it is apawlling. Bill O'Riley is just a jerk too! He is so arrogant and aggressive and rude, ugggghhhh! I don't know how people watch him. Even more so, I can't believe people would actually go on his show and be subjected to such mean and unfair treatment. Anyway, I really want to tell my parents to watch the film, but they probably won't. They are completley blinded when it comes to politics and I feel like I can't ever get through to them.

Not in our town
Watching that video in class yesterday just completley blew my mind. I have never heard of anyone saying anything bad about an enviornmentalist before, especially referring to them as "terrorists," and "Nazis." I consider myself an enviornmentalist and I definetly know now that I would never want to move to Montana! haha But anyways, on regards to John Stokes, I can't believe that guy. There is something wrong with someone who wants to stir up trouble in that way. I still can't believe he gave out names and addresses over the air. That should be illegal I think. Someone even said he told his listeners to go vandelize Keith (an enviornmentalists) house! *sigh* It's sad that this town couldn't seem to settle their differences. I see some valid points on both sides and I think that is they really sat down and talked about things, they could really understand the others' point of view.
