The more speeches and debates I watch, the more I am convinced that Obama is the candidate for me. Everytime I watch his speeches, I feel inspired. My mom was visiting this weekend and she showed me a video on youtube of a Barack Obama speech. It was called "YES WE CAN." I thought it was really cool because his speech was put to music. It made me cry in some parts like this line...
"We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope, but there has never been anything false about HOPE." -Barack Obama
I urge you to check it out and let me know what you think. The link is at the top of this post, or you can go to youtube and search, barack obama-yes we can. I truly believe there is hope for this country. I remain optimistic that some day we will not be a capitalist nation, that puts money and power, above love and compassion.
I find it amazing that the people of this nation will object to the lessons of evolution, but will stand for the murder of innocent people. We react in uproar when creationism is brought into the classroom, but don't seem to care about the real problems in our school systems.
I read this thing that Jay leno said the other day about how with all the problems in the U.S. is this really a good time to take, "God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance.
I know this country is full of beautiful and amazing people. I believe in our people. I believe in our nation.
"We can heal this country. We can repair the world. YES WE CAN!"

Agreed! I am a supporter of Barack Obama for numerous reasons. People may think this election isn't the best since the race is between an African American man and a female, but I have actually followed this race more than any other before. As you said in your blog, Obama is one who does give the country hope. When he makes speeches, it makes me want to listen. Not only because he seems more literate, well more than our current president, but because what he says restores hope with the American people. No one can deny how bad of shape our country is and has been in the past eight years, and Obama being president, I think, would at least fix some of the problems we are having. We do need change and he is the one who can do it.
Plan to Combat Poverty
“I'm in this race for the same reason that I fought for jobs for the jobless and hope for the hopeless on the streets of Chicago; for the same reason I fought for justice and equality as a civil rights lawyer; for the same reason that I fought for Illinois families for over a decade… That's why I'm running, Democrats — to keep the American Dream alive for those who still hunger for opportunity, who still thirst for equality.”
— Barack Obama, Speech in Des Moines, IA, November 10, 2007
With Senator Barack Obama, there is a potential for a different kind of leadership. There is still hope for us in this country. On the grassroots level, people are forming networks everywhere to support his campaign trying to make a positive change!
This is something that we have not seen in American politics. Obama possesses the ability to reach out and inspire a multitude of Americans from all walks of life. Senator Obama’s promise of creating a more united and open America, one less chained to racial and economic segregation, has created optimism for both young and old across the country. “Look at the gray-haired ‘60s idealists inside the senator’s own brain trust who see him as the fulfillment of 40 years’ worth of hard work,” writes Jonathan Darman of Newsweek. “Look at the throbbing crowds that mob the young senator, reminiscent in so many ways of the crowds that mobbed Bobby Kennedy 40 years ago."
I have to strongly agree with you that he is truly inspiring. (Marinell)
